Biography

  • 1984 - HND Applied Biology.
  • 1984 – 1989 Shell Research Ltd, Sittingbourne, Kent.
  • 1989 – 1999 Twygen / Gentech Ltd, Dundee Technology Park.

Areas of Expertise

  • Glasshouse Services Supervisor, in charge of staff of 13 permanent staff plus casuals working in the glasshouses, tunnels and controlled environment facilities. Provide a support service to Scientific Research Projects that require living plant material in controlled growth facilities, so that the research objectives of the Institute can be met.
  • Responsible for weekly, monthly and yearly schedules of production, maintenance and safe disposal of plant material for research and breeding programmes in all areas.

The James Hutton Research Institute is the result of the merger in April 2011 of MLURI and SCRI. This merger formed a new powerhouse for research into food, land use, and climate change.
