Breeding behaviour of the Ghost Moth and Gold Swift
Few moths present an opportunity to study their breeding behaviour in any detail. However, the males of two of the five species of Swift moths (Hepialidae) in Britain display socially (akin to 'lekking'). They are widespread and I have been able to compare and contrast their breeding behaviour in Deeside. Most aspects will be illustrated and one feature in particular, overlooked in the field guides, has been photographed for the first time.
